COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS

Attached is a college scholarship application for the 2011-2012 school year.  Applications are advertised from January 1, 2011 through March 31, 2012 for members of the Richlands United Methodist Church.  Applications must be returned by the deadline date of March 31,2012.  Applications will not be accepted after that date.

In order to qualify for a Will Ervin Memorial Fund Scholarship, the upcoming college student must be registered as full-time (12 or more semester hours) student with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 per semester.  Should the student fall below these requirements, he/she will automatically have another semester to bring the grade point average up.  A transcript is then required to verify the student’s standings before another check can be sent to the college.

We can not consider you for inclusion in our college scholarship award unless you return the completed application in its entirety by the noted deadline date of March 31, 2012.  This includes all information requested (i.e., letters of recommendation, including one from your employer, and up-to-date school transcripts, etc.)

After this initial application form has been received, only additional information will be requested each year thereafter to update our files and keep us apprised of your progress.  You will need to follow the instructions on the Previous Applicant form then.  The scholarship applicant must apply for a scholarship each year by referring to the bulletin board in the church hallway for the name and phone number of contact person.

Interviews are required of each applicant each year he/she applies for a scholarship.  IMPORTANT:  YOUR WORK EXPERIENCE (hours per week) in the past, as well as projected work experience for the upcoming summer, will be a determining factor in your scholarship eligibility.  We expect you to have your summer job lined up prior to coming for your scholarship interview.  Please come prepared to discuss this at your interview in May/June 2012.  You will be contacted with an exact date and time for your interview.

If selected, applicants will be awarded a scholarship divided into two equal payments for undergraduate or technical school studies while post-graduate students will be awarded a one-time scholarship in the amount of $100.

If any part of the application information is missing when returned to the committee, the application will not be accepted, nor will the application be accepted if postmarked after the deadline date of March 31, 2012.  You may mail your completed Scholarship application to the Will Ervin Memorial College Scholarship Committee, Richlands United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1217, Richlands, NC  28574, leave the completed application at the church on Sunday mornings in the Church Office where there is a mail receptacle designated for the Will Ervin mail or email your entire application to jtf031557@yahoo.com.  You may call the church office at 910-324-5464 if needed.

REMEMBER!!!  APPLICATIONS MUST BE RETURNED IN THEIR ENTIRETY BY THE DEADLINE DATE OF MARCH 31, 2012.  THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS.
